Frank Page just told the convention that Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal (R) told him that he had been baptized and led to Christ by Louisiana Baptist pastor Tommy French. This is pretty significant. I was under the impression that Bobby Jindal was a Catholic. At any rate, Jindal is on the short list for the VP nomination to run with McCain. He is a young governor of Indian ancestry and is probably one of the brightest lights in the Republican Party. If you have not heard about Bobby Jindal, pay attention. I would not be surprised if he ran for president in the near future.

Tommy told this to me as well. Tommy is true old fashioned soul winner - The Gov was in his sights!

This is interesting.
I wonder when this happened? Does Jindal still identify as a Catholic?
I've read many articles recently about Jindal's "traditionalist Catholicism."
However, when he ran for Governor, he shared his testimony in both Pentecostal and Baptist churches. If he's the VP pick, this will make news and thus far you're the first person to put this tidbit out there.
It seems we may have two confused church-goers on the same ticket.
McCain identifies as an Episcopalian but has attended a Baptist church for 17-18 years.
Jindal from what I've read identifies as a Catholic but was led to Christ as an adult by a Baptist!

Here is my guess based on a piece Jindal wrote about his conversion ( http://www.americamagazine.org/content/article.cfm?article_id=10342 ). He says he had a Southern Baptist friend got him to read the Bible. He then says he talked a lot with a pastor before accepting Christ, but that it was two years later that he was baptized into the Catholic Church. Thus, I'm guessing that he was first converted and baptized by a Southern Baptist and then switched to Catholicism. Quite a journey from Hinduism.

Would he be another Southern Baptist that we baptized and then can't find anymore? :) Man, we really have trouble with retention, don't we?

Check out this link for another interesting perspective on Jindal: http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/06/bobby_jindals_dance_with_the_d.php
Surely we have learned by now to be wary of claims of "conversion" by those who just "happen" to be running for office!
